I believe it to be a grave mistake that there are tours in the White House. Big time security problem. Anything can happen. The White House is not the same as it was when it was originally built. It was completely burned down once by the English. The outside walls survived. The interior was completely gutted back in 49. They had to do that because the whole structure was ready to fall apart. When Truman was President the floor underneath the weight of a piano gave way. The piano went right through the floor and crashed onto the next one. Just the outside of it is original.
